LAKEHEAD ARCHERS
WINTER LEAGUE

There are some changes to this years winter league rules that have been made based on the input of club members, Executive and past winter league participants.  We hope that the changes will make the winter league even better and more enjoyable for everyone.

The Winter League will run from December 6th 2009 to April 30th, 2010 with the awards on Saturday May 8th at the Rubber Boot 3D shoot dinner.

- Each shooter upon paying his Winter league shooting fee will receive 12 targets made up of 6 Manny's IFAA targets (5 spot or single spot) and 6 FITA 40cm targets (single or 3 spot)

- On the IFAA targets a score will consist of a round of 30 arrows (6 ends of 5 arrows) with a total score out of 150

- The FITA targets score will consist of a round of 30 arrows (10 ends of 3 arrows) for a total score out of 300.

- Adult Archers will shoot from 18 meters

- Youth Archers will shoot from 10 meters

- The Archers must submit 5 targets and completed score cards of each style target for scoring.  The scores from the ten targets will be totaled for a final score out of 2250.

- Only official Lakehead Archers winter league targets may be used for official scoring.  Official targets will be available at the canteen.

- If an Archer loses his/her targets only the tournament director may issue new targets.  (If you forget your targets at home you are out of luck for that day - no "loaners" !)

- Five (5) of the Archers submitted targets must be shot on a club night or designated winter league shoot date ( so far the X-challenge and Minnesota State Indoor Regional Qualifier are designated shoot dates, more will be added) and signed by the person running the canteen/shoot.  These targets must also be handed in on the date they are shot - no exceptions.

- The completed score card including X-count will be submitted stapled to the shot target along with the date the target was shot, the Archers name and the signature of the person running the canteen(if one of the 5 targets requiring such).

- The league will have the following divisions.

- Adult Male compound
- Adult Female compound
- Adult traditional
- Junior compound - 15yrs to 17 yrs
- Cadet compound - 12yrs to 14 yrs
- Cub compound    - 8yrs to 11 yrs
- Pre-Cub compound - 7yrs and under
- Youth traditional - 17yrs and under

As in the past if there are enough Adult compound shooters then we will create more than one flight (the record number of flights is 3 - lets try to beat that).  If there are enough registered youth shooters the divisions will also be split into separate male and female divisions.

The Winter League Fees are;

 Adult members $30.00                Youth members $20 (17 and under)
Adult non-members $40.00 **       Youth non-members $30.00 **(17 and under
)
         -  ** non-members must also pay the daily range shoot fee

An Archer may register in both the compound and traditional divisions with the fee for the 2nd division being 1/2 the regular rate.

                 - i.e.. Archer in Adult male compound (member) $30 plus Adult traditional (member) $15 for a total cost of $45 for both divisions.

This year the season is almost 25 weeks long and you only have 12 targets to shoot and ten to submit (5 of each style) so you have lots and lots of time to shoot them.  The purpose behind our winter league is to get people out shooting, learn how to score properly and having some fun.  It also provides some of the more competitive Archers an opportunity to hone their game for the bigger indoor shoots.

When you consider that the shoot fee includes the cost of 12 targets and trophies it is really quite a deal.  Bring out a friend and join the winter league and enjoy shooting in our warm indoor range !!
